He will be judged with an easy account

1. Lessons/Guidance/Reflections/Gems

[ edit ]
  • The Prophet explained the meaning of being judged with an easy حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا "an easy account". Aisha (ra) said, "Once the Prophet () said, "Whoever will be called to account (about his deeds on the Day of Resurrection) will surely be punished." I said, "Doesn't Allah say: "He surely will receive an easy reckoning." (84.8) The Prophet () replied, "This means only the presentation of the accounts but whoever will be argued about his account, will certainly be ruined." [Bukhari]

Explanatory Note

This is, then, the lenient reckoning accorded to him who receives his record in his right hand. He shall win “and return rejoicing to his people,” who will also have won and arrived in heaven ahead of him. We deduce from this statement that those who accept the faith in this life and adhere to the right path will gather together in heaven. Everyone ends up with those whom he loves. We also have an image of the winner’s all-important test: he returns with his face overflowing with happiness.

7. Period of Revelation

[ edit ]

This is one of the earliest Surahs to be revealed at Makkah. The internal evidence of its subject matter indicates that persecution of the Muslims had not yet started; however, the message of the Qur’an was being openly repudiated at Makkah and the people were refusing to acknowledge that Resurrection would ever take place when they would have to appear before their God to render an account of their deeds.
